Here is how the stars aligned for Jessie. First, two nights ago Kopp's had chocolate peanut butter chocolate ice cream. Naturally, we indulged. Then last night, the Bucks won a thriller, we were there. After 20 years of sitting in the same place, there was a thrown T shirt, arching its way up the stands, perfectly landing in my outstretched hand. I peeled off the rubber bands and handed it to Jess. It is her pajama size. It says "WORK HARD/PLAY HARD" and then the Bucks logo.
We get home. Jess jumps on the computer and immediately finds the stress chat room for hundreds of prospective dental students, all of whom are to learn their fate at midnight plus 1 minute, December 1, when the national dental computer updates. The posts are a riot, the very definition of nervousness. Many of the posters are completely inebriated. Jessie reads them to us. Everyone is reacting to the "blank" status where their "application under review" used to be.
There is frenzy. Jessie has hundreds of new friends, brothers and sisters in suspense. The witching hour approaches. Voila!! Updates!! But, alas, not U of Pacific. More frenzy. Finally, Jess is overstressed and heads to bed.
It is 6:30 am. Mom and I are having breakfast, the dog is annoying, wants to run for the frisbee -- in other words, normal. Mom goes to the computer, which is still open to the AASDAAS page. Mom hits update. The "blank" turns into "offer made." We look at each other. Mom runs upstairs, wakes Jessie from a sound sleep. She walks groggily to the computer, reads the words, eyes open huge, screams "I'm in!!!", refreshes the screed to make sure, jumps up and down, hugs all around, and Facebooks the world.
It was a grand morning at the Kravit household.
Love, xxx ooo and special congrats to what Ben tweeted "Dr. jkrav214"

Wish I was there ): Must've been an awesome moment!!
ReplyDeleteKnow what else was awesome? Having an alarm set for 1am because that is when I thought it was going to be found out, and not having anyone call... My fire alarm did go off though. Long story, will blog tomorrow! (OR Thursday.)
